  • It’s Official – IE7 is cool

Today I decided to go ahead and install IE 7 Beta 2, expecting of the ugly browser I dealt with while using Beta 1, this is what I found instead. After so long with IE as the “ugly duckling” of the browsing world, the Internet Explorer team seems to have built something with some degree of quality. While there’s still a lot needed to secure its weakening position in the market, this will have a real impact.

  • evalTray Update

I’ve updated evalTray again, now to include a couple new functions, as well as now using the .NET 2.0 Framework. Hopefully there will be additional updates soon, as I find features that would be useful. Changes: 2006.0.1.81 (Feb. 26, 2006): ToBase64 – Encodes a string using the Base 64 algorithm. FromBase64 – Decodes a Base 64 string. Fixed Copy from Result window issue. Parameters are now automatically formatted.

  • Starting Over

This is the fifth major starting-over of my personal site. This one is different though, this time I’m really starting over. Very little of what you see here is from my older sites. I felt it was time for a clean break, and this is part of it. This is a blend of a professional & personal blog, you’ll see a dynamic mix of connect (or basically: whatever strikes my fancy).

  • Glue & Reuse

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. On an average day, I take about 10 screenshots, and upload them to my FTP server. Now, this is easy enough, but it does take a minute, let’s break down the process: Press Alt+PrtScr. Go to the start menu, and use the “Run” command to open mspaint. Paste (and crop if needed). Save the image. Find the image.

  • Visual Studio 2005 Released!

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 has now been released to MSDN Subscribers. This is an unannounced, though not unexpected release, as it’s been predicted by a number of blogs recently. Only one small problem: The MSDN site is so busy it’s next to impossible to get any files to download. I’m going to keep trying, though I’m not too certain as to when I’ll get in.

  • Internet Explorer 7 (Beta 1)

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. When I logged into my MSDN account recently, I found the most interesting thing: Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1. I just couldn’t resist installing it on my development system. While the interface still needs work, it seems fairly stable for a beta. They have finally added support for tabbed browsing – something that helped Firefox quickly gain market share.

  • 4HowTo reaches 30,000 & vArticles dev.2

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. As I’ve continued importing data, 4HowTo.com has now passed 30,000 articles in its database. Much as I’ve expected, the software is still stable and working normally, all seems to be scaling rather nicely. Hopefully I’ll get all of the data imported in the next week, though importing over 100,000 lines of SQL is rather time consuming.

  • vArticles

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. vArticles A former Imspire project, this is now the make-shift home for vArticles, a articles management system written in PHP & designed for Apache & MySQL. Running on both Windows & Linux systems, and based on open-source servers, vArticles gives a great deal of flexibility while remaining true to the original concept of a lite, fast processing CMS.

  • Back From New York

This post was imported from an old blog archive, and predates the creation of AdamCaudill.com. Wow, the summer’s over and I’m finally home! After spending the last five months in New York (quite a difference from my native Florida), I’ve finally made it back home. Much has happened while I’ve been away, not the least of which is the death of Imspire and a few related projects. While giving up on these dreams has been difficult, I believe the result will be for the best.
